Her recent visit to Monticello is depicted in her blog, And the Pursuit of Happiness, in the New York Times. Here we see, through her eyes, some of the interiors of Jefferson's home. We love the piece's accompanying text, so be sure to visit.
Here is Kalman in her own home, her apartment in Greenwich Village:

love these illustrations and text (and love monticello and tj). a friend sent it to me a few months ago and i've had it saved since then. if it were a book, it would be the perfect give for a few people i know.

Wow! I've seen her depictions of interiors, but the accompanying text enhances the whole experience. Thanks for the post. I will continue to follow her work.

Having lived in Charlottesville, VA for 10 years I have toured Monticello about a dozen time or more and I always love the alcove bed room and his office. The rooms have lovely high ceilings and the light just pours in through all the windows and french doors. I'm always surprised at how short the bed looks, but back in his day most people would sleep propped up on a bunch of pillows rather than totally flat.
