Team 7 Non-Toxic Bedroom Furniture

Green up your bedroom. Team 7 is a leading manufacturer of green, non-toxic furniture for many rooms of the house, but perhaps most importantly, the bedroom...

As explained by Team 7, "We spend a third of our lives in bed where our bodies recharge their energy. Therefore it is important that furniture in or close to our bedroom does not off-gas any toxic chemicals to interfere with this function. I think that nobody would knowingly choose to sleep in a room where the pollution levels are two to five times higher than outdoor levels due in part to chemical out-gassing from furnishings. TEAM 7 uses only natural solid wood that is finished with herbal oils and waxes for its furniture designs. No particle or MDF boards, stains and lacquers, so commonly used by other manufacturers, are used by TEAM 7 because they can emit toxic VOCs into the air we breathe."

What we love about Team 7's bedroom furniture is that it's green and sleek. The sustainable requirements Team 7 upholds themselves to certainly don't sacrifice a minimalist aesthetic. Shouldn't everything be made with these standards: succeeding environmentally and aesthetically? (thanks, Barbara!)

Hmmm. They make a good point on the off gassing of surroundings when you sleep

Sound thinking - I hope this idea hits the mainstream, where it will do much good.

(OT) I tried to get Ikea UK to talk about brominated flame retardents in their matresses - I got a really condescending custserv call back, assuring me that if I'd heard about them in "chemical warfare" (which, I'd not - just the fact they're in breastmilk and are not desirable!) I had no need to worry, because - well I forget the rest of what he said, it was basically "buy our sh1t"....

Good stuff though, and let's hope that consumer power makes that kind of chemical toxin as redundant as bearbaiting!!

This seems a little gimmicky to me. The fumes exuded from newly manufactured and varnished furniture dissipate quickly over time.

This stuff looks gorgeous. BUT, where can I find pricing and where to buy??? The lack of availability of this information makes me think it's veeeery pricey.

Not true. Formaldehyde for eg. (used in particle board) continues to outgas for the life of the product, mostly in the first yr. but levels never hit zero. It is a known carcinogen & sensitizer, which makes one sensitive to other chemicals. So you're depressing your immune system & screwing over the environment, as these chemicals cont. to be used b/c no one does their research or takes a stand.

I found some pretty similar stuff at the bedroom space. They carry a collection from Modloft that I've heard is eco-friendly.
