Bruno Bed from Area Home

2-4-bruno-bed-1.jpgArea Home recently made Maxwell's list of Best Modern Bedding. But did you know Area Home also has their own bed design? The Bruno Bed is the perfect showcase for their bedding collection. Similar to the Case Study bed that is widely popular, Bruno's look is slightly more contemporary (especially in the ash). We had a chance to see it in person at the Gift Fair this weekend. Click below to see our pics...

Bruno is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified sustainable solid hardwood in a choice of ash or walnut and is also available in white. The bed features aluminum die cast legs. Bruno is available online in three sizing options (full, queen, king) from Design Public. Price ranges from $4,300 to $4,900 depending on size.

I saw this a few days ago while searching the internet, generally, for modern bedding.

My first reaction was that it looked like a cheesy version of the case study bed. My view of the bed hasn't changed.

And the price!!! More than twice the price of the case study bed from modernica.

Ahh I saw this at ABC Home & Carpet! It had Area linens on it but I didn't know it was an Area bed. That price... ouch. The Muji bed has a similar look but for under $1000.

duckumu, do you have a link to the muji bed? I couldn't find anything similar.

oops, looks like I was mistaken about the Muji bed. I thought I remembered the headboard being just a big block of wood, but it's not.

I love when designers undeniably copy another design and then have the audacity to charge more for their version.

Is it a nice looking bed? Yes. Is it worth the price tag? Not nearly.

I appreciate the wood is sustainable, but as others have mentioned the design is basic enough that with some basic DIY skills could make it. I'm not impressed.

Where in the world is the business sense in knocking something off in order to charge MORE? Where is the originality and creative inspiration we've come to expect from Area? And who are these deep-pocketed clueless people that they plan on selling these beds to?

This is a complete embarrassment and does a disservice to an otherwise creative brand.

davidasposted, these are not identical, but they are similar to the legs used on the case study bed:

I'm so glad I saw this. I was loving the Area, but it's a rip off compared to the case. Okay, so does anyone know a great matching dresser for the case? The one they make it a little too chunky and less retro to me.

Thanks!
