Gustavian Style Bed from Viva Terra

1-16-gustavian-bed-1.jpg

Made from reclaimed Douglas fir, this Gustavian Style bed from Viva Terra pays homage to the compromise made between Sweden's King Gustav (who loved ornate French furniture) and the Swedish woodworkers who took "a lot of look"* and created simpler, but just-as-striking furniture...

The wood used in the bed has developed a rich patina and has been hand-planed. The Gustavian Bedis available in Queen, King and California King sizes &mdash with an option of a light or dark stain and hard oil wax finish. The bed is currently on sale for 20% off and prices start at $1,675.

Has a very antique look. Very well done. I like it, but not so much the price. *sigh* :)

Love love love it. It's both ornate and clean, a rare and neccessary combo.

Maybe I am crazy, but it seems like the headboard part of this could be homemade somewhat easily. It wouldn't be hand planed, but glueing together some textured floor boards and cutting out the shape could get you a similar effect.

I've been drooling over this bed frame for months. Alas, I'm deeply committed to my full size mattress. Anybody seen anything similar in a full size bed?

What Rcubed said! None of these come in full size. It makes me cry.
