THIS makes us want to be a kid again. We love this bunkbed design.
We just noticed that Room and Board is catching onto the national trend called, "If it has to do with babies and kids, it will sell like hotcakes," and are expanding their collection.
The Imagine bed ($1500) is a novel design that allows the lower bunk to be bigger than the upper, providing the sort of roomy-ness that always was lacking in bunkbeds when we were growing up.
It is also made out of solid Oregon maple by a US based, family-owned company, which should warm everyone's heart. MGR

Been trying to choose between the Room & Board twin Imagine bed (not the fab bunk) and a white, Land of Nod white spindle bed. It's for a three-year-old girl's room and, as always, I am torn between contemporary clean lines, and antique/charming. The Room & Board stuff seems so sturdy and it looks like the kind of furniture she would still like many years later. That being said, perhaps it's too basic and not charming enough? Also thought about a wrought iron white bed, which might go well with some more contmporary pieces. Thoughts on children's rooms? What about windowless Brooklyn garden apt. children's rooms?
I actually have ordered this bunk bed and am getting it delivered tomorrow. I love R&B. They are so cool and actually do things outside the box. Like appeasing my crazy neurotic mom fears by supplying us with an additional guardrail for the bottom bunk. Yep I am afraid my 2 year old will tumble the 7 inches to the floor. Anyway I will let you know how it turns out. BTW IW, I hear land of nod stuff is crap. I have only bought linens from them, and no real furniture but a friend of mine says it knicks and scratches pretty easily.
