apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

When Jim Comes to Paris by Matali Crasset

A guest room in a bag. Designer Matali Crasset's bed roll, called When Jim Comes to Paris, is being produced by French manufacturer Domeau & Peres.

It's a thick felt roll-up bed that's outfitted with its own built-in alarm clock and reading lamp. It's made not only to assist apartment dwellers with hospitality, but to look great, too.

Very cool - but what are we who don't live in France or don't speak French supposed to do? There's no way to buy the damn thing online and the website is in French.

I am French and live in France. Even then, it is unclear from reading the website how the product is distributed, and how much it costs.

Isn't this just an awkwardly sized imitation of a Japanese futon with a clock and light strapped to the outside cover?

How is this better than a therm-a-rest? And don't say it's because of some dinky alarm clock and light.
