HUGE FAN OF OVERSTOCK.COM AND SMARTBARGAINS.COM FOR EVERYDAY SHEETS (IE. NON-SEX DATE SHEETS). HAVE FOUND BEAUTIFUL SOFT COTTON SHEETS THAT HAVE HELD UP VERY NICELY OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS.

I love the Alexa Dot sheets by Charisma at Bloomies. 500 thread count, and not too too expensive. . .

Area bedding, especially those made with linen. Super soft and sexy after a few washings. think about your favorite linen shirt.

I have had horrible luck finding bedding for years, but finally hit the jackpot with some sheets from Macy's. The brand is "Style&co" and I've been using them for 4 months. They are wonderfully soft and cheap! Some designs have been on sale lately for about $50! I'll put the link in my name.

I just got some lovely Dwell sheets from Design Public, and I am very very happy with them.

Gracious Home--the bedding, towel, fabric etc. annex on the east side of Third Avenue across from the main store. Some lines are real high end (Matouk, Designers Guild), others are reasonable, especially the house brands.

If online stores count, Design Public all the way!

Is this for bedding brands or bedding stores? I'll list both.

I bought the Jonathan Adler Hollywood bedding last month at pillowsandthrows.com. The bedding looks really cool with the bold graphic design and is super soft after a couple of washings. This online store has a really nice varied selection of different styles and brands.

Mrs. Clause also liked the Inhabit bedding line. It was a tough choice. None of the Inhabit colors worked in our room so we passed it up in favor of the Adler bedding.

Don't forget about Fold bedding too.

I purchased the Chocolate Silhouette bedding by Dwell last year. The duvet faded really bad after the first time washing it, but the pillow cases did not and still look great. I ordered them through ModernEssentials.com, they said there was nothing they could do about it. I was very disappointed to say the least. The Dwell designs are my favorite but I am just hesitant to order their bedding again. My son's crib bedding is also dwell and has held up well though.

My Garnet Hill sheets and duvet are luxurious and durable . . . they seem to last forever! Their colors are nice but I wish they had more modern (and even retro) patterns/prints.

Garnett Hill flannels, baby. The ones from Germany are like freakin' chamois cloth. The ones from Portugal, not so much.

This time of year, I wash them and put them right back on again. Yummy.

trisha,

i had the same problem with dwell bedding... the green stripe duvet i bought has faded A LOT in the 2 years i've owned it, but the pillowcases have maintained their color (see link at my name). must be because the color is integral in the solids, but just printed on with the patterns.

we also splurged on plain white sheets from macy's hotel collection. they are super soft and have held up well!

I love Ralph Lauren bedding: no one does prints like he does, and many of the sheets are printed in Italy and are incredibly durable. The bedding collections that are sold in his stores (as opposed to department stores) are top of the line, surpassing Sferra and other copycats.

I've beenburned by sheets from overstock in the past. I think it's very hit or miss. I also got the worst sheets from Bed, Bath and Beyond. I finally decided to go to Macy's and proceeded to shove my hands into all the displays of sheets and packages. I found a winner with their own Style&co sheets. Click my name for the link. I've had these sheets since summer and they are very soft and have deep pockets for my extra wide mattress.

I just bought the Eileen Fisher comforter cover (linen/cotton) from Garnet Hill. Lovely shade of blue. Beautiful feeling fabric. Well worth the money.

The new "atelier" line of bedding at Restoration Hardware looks fantastic and is definitely a bargain compared to Italian brands such as Signoria di Firenze, Sferra etc...

the hotel collection from bed bath & beyond. the sateen sheets. get better -- softer, silkier -- with each washing.

I've recently become a fan of the Italian brand Bellino. Their line of egyptian cotton sheets are both luxurious and soft to touch.

Garnet Hill for luxury spreads and Macy*s Hotel series for sheets, along with Donna Karen's amazingly soft handkerchief weight pillowcases.

RE: Abby's suggestion for BB&B Hotel Collection.

I bought these in a gorgeous shade of caramel brown for my guest room (yes, I have a guest room, oh gosh I hope Steve & Stephen aren't reading). After one washing (per directions warm & tumble dry), the color started to come out unevenly and sort of stripe-y. These were not cheap and I expected much more than one wash out of them.

Fieldcrest pima cotton sheets from Target are affordable, have elastic all the way around for a super snug fit and are surprisingly comfortable. Also, I bought Ralph Lauren linen sheets at the ABC warehouse in the Bronx six years ago and I have never slept on sheets more comfy and cozy. Absolutely amazing!!!

Williams-Sonoma Home's (formerly Chambers) 990tc silk and cotton blend sheets are pure heaven.

The most comofortable linens I've ever slept in, and still do, are Frette's. Their cotton sheets provide an amazing soft feeling and the quality is outstanding.
