I remember seeing the Hydra Table when it was first introduced at a furniture show back in the early 90's - Overall it's a bit industrial for my tastes, but I like the new wood base that they've added.
I wonder tho: When I was on a cruise last summer, there was a cocktail table in my suite that was adjustable in height via simple ratchet mechanism: lift up and it clicked in place - to lower it, lift to the top again and it would reset to the lower height. I wonder where I could find something like that without going to the shipbuilders in Italy?

I looked all over for months and didn't like any of the common adjustable tables because they're all so rectangular and not particularly attractive. I finally came across the LEM 90 table: http://www.surrounding.com/Products/Magis/LEM_90.asp It's expensive, but oh so sexy.

the one i have been looking for (for years) is a round wooden table with one of those mechanisms like you would find in an adjustable height piano stool. it spins and raises up to dining height. i saw this type thing on an hgtv show (something about a first home) but have yet to ever find anything like it in stores or online. on my craftier days, i think i might could make one but i would rather just buy one. any ideas?
