Best Products: Braun Voice Activated Travel Alarm

2004_12_8_braun.jpgBark! That is the sound we make when we want to snooze in the morning. In what will be looked back on as a total victory for the human race, Braun's alarm clock line quietly introduced a voice activated snooze feature to their awesome line of clocks, which really solves one of life's little problems... or not.

The Braun Voice Control AB 314 vsl

Silliness factor aside, this has been our favorite clock for the past few years, and you will be surprised how it grows on you. It is also hard to find. We found it for $65 at Arora Electric in Canada (really, Arora.). MGR

You'd think a clock could be made for under $30-50, that has

A. Has a quiet and slowly increasing (adjustable 1 to 15 min) pleasant noise (withOUT a loud start up "Ker-klunk" noise) to wake owner without inducing a heart attack or nausea.

B. That can be adjusted easily and positively by a fumble fingered drunk at 3 in the morning (Analog face is nice)

C. That is small enough to travel with (pocket sized)

D.Is dark at night but can light up

E. Has both batteries (back up, common size battery) and plug in.

D. Survives a 2-6ft drop from night table with aplomb.

Other nice features would be a built in (night/wake) light, radio/mp3, for more money of course, you need a screen for a lot of that and that's pricey.

Try to find one. Really. Not easy.

They can make cool cell phones, PDA's and and MP3 players with more features that you can count, but a nice modern alarm clock. Hah.

Prove me wrong. Please

Fred, your alarm clock needs are available in a little number called Zupa which is on sale at the Moma store online for only $19.95. Check Momastore.com and go to the "sale" link.
I bought this clock a few weeks ago and love it. It does everything you listed and I have tested it after having had a little too much to drink.
Also, for traveling I have used an old Braun travel clock that has a classic look and is simple to use. I have had it since the late 1980's and don't ever remember having to change the battery more than once. When it isn't traveling it sits in the bathroom and reminds me how late I am for work.

Er, um, Fred, have you seen the prices of those "really cool cell phones, PDA's and MP3 players"?!

Any idea if this clock comes in white? I currently have a white Braun but the alarm is broken & I can't find another one.

I am looking for a simple voice-activated alarm clock. Don't need the radio etc. Just need an alarm clock with snooze alarm and lighted dial/numbers so husband can see at night. He has problems with push buttons etc. And preferably not something that costs more than $20.00. Is there such a thing?

This Zupa clock (seems to be available from ModernClocks.net) - does it have a tick?

My perfect alarm clock has all that, but no audible tick. Braun ones used to pass, but my latest has got very old and now ticks.

How about Braun's radio set alarm?
