A number of people asked where we got these roller blinds from in this post last week, and the answer is Janovic Plaza.
While their mechanics are not the best in the world, Janovic's roller blinds come in a coated linen/cotton, which can either be totally blocking or have a nice transluscence and don't cost too much (they are one of the cheapest solutions that Janovic sells). You can also walk down to your neighborhood Janovic store and get them right away. A shade like the one in the pic is about $30-$40.

thank you! i plan to pick those up this weekend!
Roller blinds seem to be making a huge comeback. I was recently comtemplating some myself from Smith and Noble. They have them available in some 40-odd fabric choices. Base price on those is in the $50-$60 range, so yours are a little less expensive.
Will check them out, thank you!
I bought white roller blinds at IKEA that I just love--they are not opaque but they have a great look and are very inexpensive. Perfect for privacy but not to completely block out light. They are part of the ENJE line and come in various widths. They have nice silver hardware (along the bottom of the blind and the actual roller) and are very contemporary. The 23 1/2-inch width will run you $16.99.

I also got my roller/solar shades at Janovic. But dear god, mine were not $30-40. But I am blessed with some big-a$$ windows.
(Pet peeve: when rental buildings don't put in basic privacy window treatments...)
If you insist on getting blinds at Janovic, just be very very careful to make sure they understand what you want and check in with them often. 6 weeks and $2500 later, I am stuck with the wrong-model blinds for which Janovic will not take responsibility. With their customer service (or lack thereof), it's a gamble to deal with them to say the least.
