Blogging Elle Decor: Faceted Stool

The cover of the January/February issue of Elle Decor features the Bel Air home of fashion designer Monique Lhullier. Rhapsody in Gray is the work of Lhullier and interior designer Jennie Abbott. While the predominately gray interior is gorgeous, we were most taken with the ceramic faceted stool in the living room...

I could be way off, but are you sure it's ceramic? To me it appears like a wireframe with a gloss polymer film stretched over it. You could make it with triangular tiles on a thin re-bar frame covered with mesh and then grouted on, but it would be pretty heavy. Any ideas? I guess I may be missing something where it explicitly says it's ceramic...

Kartell also has a nice faceted cube that looks better in person than in photos. The clear one appears almost mirrored.
