Old surfer's never die, they just make their homes nicer. Perusing the latest edition of Surfer's Journal, we came across some super cool photos of Jack O'Neill's home in Santa Cruz. O'Neill, the founder of O'Neill Wetsuits and surf gear, bought this modest surf overlook in the 70's and now watches the 38th avenue break from his wide deck...

While the inside is none too fancy, there are some remarkable details and the minimal surf style is unmistakable. We particularly like the huge portal windows and the stone covered bathroom.

Out back, there is a mesmerizing Japanese rock garden. There's more pics inside, so if you get the magazine, look for volume 16, number 4, with the orange cover.

Ahhh, I used to live about half block up from Jack's house and surfed that break every morning, then rode my bike past it on the way to work. Now I live in Brooklyn. Thanks for the memory. By the way, there's a bathtub out on the deck too. Always looked great for soaking.
