Frank Lloyd Wright Homes for Sale
The New York Times 5.23.08

5-23-wright-minnesota-1.jpgThe New York Times real estate special section, Great Homes & Destinations does a High/Low comparison of Frank Lloyd Wright single family homes in Minnesota that are currently on the market. It's a short article but an interesting look at how much the prices of homes are influenced by location, condition and starchitect pedigree...

A friend of mine from high school grew up in one of those more modest Wright homes on the shore of Lake Minnetonka outside Minneapolis. I think it had originally been more of a part-time lake cabin than full-time home.

I must have one -- but can't I have one closer to NYC?

That house was executed much later -- see my comment there. There are some in Pleasantville, NY -- and I've been in the on on Staten Island. There are few others in the burb -- Stamford, Rye and New Canaan -- but ungodly expensive if they ever come up on the market.

I'm going to Taliesin this summer. I'm going to the Johnson Wax Company Building too. I'm so excited.

Seriously, I'm surprised they don't cost even more than they do. I would expect his drawings to go for as much as some of those houses, but what do I know.

If you haven't been to Fallingwater, you really should plan a trip. Absolutely spectacular and magical. Imagine that place on the market.
