apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

House Tour: Perry Street Duplex
NYT 3.16.08

This expansive duplex is located in one of the Richard Meier towers on the far west side. With glass walls and a western exposure on the Hudson River, the apartment gets amazing (almost too much) light. Check out all the pictures below the jump (the lipstick red kitchen is a must see!). You can tell the light is intense, because the photographer had a difficult time getting the interiors properly lit without overexposing with the light from the windows...

Francis D'Haene
was responsible for the interior architecture. If you're into real estate ups and downs, be sure to read the entire story from The New York Times:
The View From the Catbird Seat. The owner, Keith Jacobson, got a relative deal on his duplex due to a timely buy when the buildings were getting a lot of bad press.

Wow! Stunning interiors and views, but that red kitchen is too much for me.

the kitchen is horrendous, but the wall of windows is enviable.

Other than the kitchen (different issue), I would have done a bit more to warm it up. As it is, it looks like it would feel like living in a lobby.

I couldn't imagine living with all that glass. I would need a bottle of windex a day just for puppy nose smudges! Love the view and the open plan though. Well done.

It feels very industrial. The kitchen is really neat to see, not something I would normally consider, but it works in this setting! The table seems to soften it up. I think it's growing on me.

Except for those weird sheep, everything feels so hard.
