DIY on a big scale. Out in Brooklyn, our friend at Brownstoner has recently added a "Renovation Blog" to his great coverage of Brooklyn brownstone real estate. With family of two children in a rental, he and the wife have bought an 1870's brownstone in Clinton Hill and are doing a top to bottom reno.
Check in with them almost daily to see what obsessive thoughts, discoveries, problems and good resources they find. Excellent front row seats if you ever want to do this yourself (even if the thought just sends chills down your spine). MGR

Wow, it must be nice to discover so many great things as you go - that beautiful wood floor is a real find! (Under our linoleum we found...more linoleum.) I also am wondering about the crown molding - is that worth keeping? It looks substantial and possibly like it would cost a fortune to replace. Is it cheaper than it looks to redo that kind of molding?
