House Beautiful's Color Personality Quiz

My color personality?

In just twenty questions, House Beautiful's Color Personality Quiz claims to help you determine a fitting color direction for your home...

With questions like "What color is your lipstick?" and "What color was your prom dress?", the quiz seems to be targeted toward women, but plenty of the quiz applies to men, too.

Does taking this quiz help you to clarify for yourself a color personality for your home? Check it out at House Beautiful.

I've always been a bit color-shy in my own home, so I took to quiz to see if it might point me in an assuring direction. I concluded that my "color personality" is something of a gray-blue family with warm brown tones thrown into the mix. This does appeal to me, so maybe I'll keep this quiz in mind if I ever do make the leap.

I love a good silly magazine quiz, but I couldn't take this one online.

It's not an online quiz...I think the point of it is to ask yourself the questions and think about your answers and come to the conclusions yourself.

I tried to take the quiz as well. Looks like you need to register with HB.

I beg to differ. ALL of the questions are tilted toward the urban American female, from asking what colour you like to wear (men's choices in these things are comparatively restricted) to naming your favourite gem ("the cheapest one that will still make her happy" would be the correct answer for most men).

The idea of a quiz that encourages us to consider new colours is an exciting one, but this is just sloppy page-filler. Maybe someone can identify a better quiz?

More like a survey. No feedback.

First color I see in the morning? A tan wall that my house's previous owner chose.

Color of my car? I bought it used - I chose the make I wanted in the color the dealer had.

Living room color when growing up? You mean, my parents horrid taste?

Prom dress? Uh, I was 17.

Thanks for the help, but I'll pass.
