This just in. This takes blogs and child raising to new heights. The Trixie Update is a weblog by two parents who have used a computer program to measure all of their daughter Trixie's bodily functions (sleep, milk, diapers) since she was born over a year ago.
Sara A. passes it along and says:
They originally developed the program as a way for Trixie's working mom to check in on her daily progress. They have great great feature articles on milk, her growth etc. complete with colorful graphs and analysis. They're working on releasing the program for others to use so check back or contact them. One of the best sites on the web, and the best baby site I have ever seen.
The most recent entry is on Trixie's new potty thats got "a light-sensor built into the seat that chimes when 'something' passes in front of it." (Thanks, Sara!) MGR

I found this website a while back. The Trixie tracker is amusing, and I believe the fact that the father was an underemployed web designer and the mother a pathologist (and hence very science/data driven) explains the result.
Also, the Trixie Pictures of the Day are almost unbearably cute. And I'm not huge fan of babies.
does anyone else think it's kinda creepy? to keep track of um, unmentionables? eesh. maybe i just don't understand because i dont have kids...but it seems a bit od, and to post it in such a public place like that...a little odd to me.
what do you think are the reasons they did it? just for fun? or does it serve some purpose as in, letting other parents know what is normal, not normal for kids? i don't know- clueless and childless over here...
d*S
Yes, it is creepy and it's an extreme case of the I Am The First Person On Earth To Have A Baby Syndrome. I mean for godsakes, every bowel movement this kid makes may be fascinating to her parents but not to the rest of us! These people need to get a grip and respect their daughter's privacy.
You guys aren't the first to think it's creepy. They've had many articles written about their site that have had the same reaction.
I've read many of their posts where they were defending themselves basically saying that this blog is a tool meant for them to keep in touch and that they were surprised it has gotten so much attention. Parents have to keep track of sleeping and eating anyway so these parents wrote a program to help them out instead of having the information all over the place.
I find it very interesting, and I feel it reveals a lot of things that it seems like parents like to keep behind closed doors. It explains things in a very thorough manner that is hard to find on the web. Maybe you all are experienced parents, but for me, reading their experience has taken away some of the terror of one day becoming a parent. The comments are a great resource for parents to talk frankly about thing from teething to--*gasp*--vomit and diaper accidents. And it's not some science experiment, they do love Trixie.
