I have finally found a hardware store that makes me happy. Sid's Hardware is large and plentiful. There are so many people working there, that one wonders whether it is the benefactor of some act of patronage, rather than a pawn in the capitalist hamster wheel, that is the reason for it's endurance.
To top it off, I have found my favorite salesperson in my favorite hardware store. His name is Jack. Whatever I want to do, he helps me do it. When I told him this week would consist of drilling many holes into plexiglass, he not only supplied ample advice to stave off the classic pitfalls of such an act, but he gave me a little piece of plexiglass on which to hone my skills. I conquered the task and I have Jack to thank.

I miss Sid's Hardware. I live in Vancouver now, but you've made me all nostalgic for Sid's...
I just had a sheet of MDF cut into shelves at Sid's today. 8 shelves for under $30 and I couldn't even take the leftovers home, and there was a huge piece left over. A 4' x 8' sheet of mdf is 29.99 and they cut it any way you want at no charge. Yeah Sid's!
My family used to own Sid's Hardware and I still miss the memories of working there to this day. Sid's always had it all and if we did not have it we found it and delivered it to our customers. Sid's was always known for experienced and dedicated sales help. The new owner Avi carries on with that tradition and has modernized and even improved our original store. I congradulate him and wish anyone working at Sid's all the best!

Sids Hardware was a great find for me. I moved recently and had many little projects to complete in my new place. Unlike the way too big Home Depot and Lowes stores in the New York area, you can actually get help from someone who knows something about hardware and has been working in the store for more than a month. I happened upon the store one day and compared prices and found Sids was actually cheaper on a lot of items that I had shlepped to Home Depot to buy a week earlier. I learned my lesson, from now on I'm shopping at Sids. The store is the real deal!!!
Wide selection of hard to find products concentrated in a small convenient store. However too many sales associates hovering around with little overall knowledge of store's inventory and prices especially the cashiers who ring up the same general merchandise repeatedly. Pervasive paranoia that the general public are all thievies coming to abscond with the merchandise or drastically alter prices hence the concentration of hovering watchfull attendants standing guard by the only entrance/exit.
Sid's Hardware is well organized and neat. The sales personnel are not only helpful, but informative. If one doesn't know an answer, they will find someone that does. Prices are for the most part very reasonable...
I had to find a part that didn't exist at any store or even online store but I did find the product in Sid's Hardware thank to Jack.
The quality of the product was very good and it is still in use...
A little expensive, but they have everything you can think of there. If you can't find it anywhere or when in doubt go to SID's. The best. I love going there to shop.
Sid's Hardware is the BEST store ever! They have everything you can possibly need when moving into a new home or refreshing your current home. They have items that you can't find anywhere! Plus, the sales associates are so knowledgeable.
I highly suggest paying a visit to Sid's and spending some time there. You'll never want to leave....
Love the staff at Sid's. I'm an ambitious person that tries to do it myself, but frequently gets in over my head. The folks at Sid's are fantastic at helping me find exactly what I need without making me feel stupid and without taking advantage of my ignorance. And they delivery quite cheaply - a must for my crazy projects at work and at home.
I've lived in Brooklyn 22 years and have been a big fan of Sid's since almost Day 1 (took a few days to discover it). I loved the old Sid's (thanks, Bobby Winterstein & your family!) with the narrow aisles and those old bread tins full of nails and bolts. And I love the new Sid's -- different ambience but the same wonderful "anything you want" abundance. Helpful staff--it is a joy to walk in and have people right there offering and ready to help. LONG LIVE SID'S!
Sid's is my favorite hardware store. I'm a DIY'er (do it yourselfer) and they always give me sound advice for all my home decor projects. They've helped me mount shelves, change door lock cylinders, hang blinds correctly as well as rewire lamps. They're resourceful and helpful.
