If you are looking for beautiful used lumber for flooring, furniture or anything else, we just got a hot tip from Jill that M. Fine Lumber is an amazing resource.
Established in 1933, M. Fine Lumber is one of the "eastern seaboard's leading suppliers of recycled lumber" and they are now exporting all over the world. Where do they get it all? Their wood is "is salvaged from demolished buildings throughout the United States," and their selection includes longleaf yellow pine, oak, and Douglas fir.

I have not used these guys for materials, but they were really helpful when I was looking for a craftsman to do some remodelling on my apartment. Lots of the local furniture designers use them for materials. A good endorsement.
hey guys,
Actually we turned Jill on to M. Fine Lumber when she came out to photograph our apt. last month--(see House Tour Jan.18 "Jenny and Clove's LAish Studio"). Jenny framed our kitchen with unplaned wood from M. Fine's Lumberyard.
It was a great find and we are happy to have shared it. Glad Jill had such a good experience--those guys are really nice to everybody.

I tried going to M Fine last weekend after reading about it here and the guy there told me they don't sell any furniture-grade wood or hard woods, like cherry or birch. Did I go to the wrong spot, or did they stop selling for non-industrial uses?
