Roundup: Upholsterers in Brooklyn
Brokelyn

7-13-brooklyn-upholstery.jpg Whoa! Check out this great list of upholsterers (with price quotes!) from the site Brokelyn: Living Big on Small Change. All 10 local upholstery shops were asked to price the cost of reupholstering the chair at left...

We're not going to steal Brokelyn's thunder! Check out Brokelyn: How much to reupholster my ugly brown chair? for the full list and quotes.

This exercise assumes that all upholsterers are created equal -- that they all do good work, and produce equal products. They don't. And that is the problem with that sort of a list.

mscatelaine - but this list is a great starting off point. (so don't knock it!)

I'm looking for an estimate on redoing a Milo Baughman cube sofa, the one with the wood frame. Has anyone used the ones on this blog or have a recommendation? I don't want to pay a fortune but it would be silly not to use someone good on a piece like this. I hear good things about Eastern Parkway. Anyone use them? I am hoping labor would not be more than $800. Thanks!

thanks for this article, it came in good timing! I desperately need to fix my vintage steelcase love seat, one of the straps broke and all the cushioning has fallen through. I've asked 2 companies in Brooklyn and they've quoted me $1200 for labor.

I plan to re-sell it so i can up grade to a B&B italia sectional.
So if anyone is looking for a love seat please let me know! Overall its in very good condition, the quality of SteelCase is just excellent!

This would have been helpful when I was trying to re-upholster my MCM daybed.

AT, you're the best! I was just wondering about this -- I figured I could find a list of upholsterers somewhere, but I needed some ballpark quotes. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this great article.

Also, it confirmed what I thought about Gerard Theuns. That was my first choice of a starting place (because I live a block away), but totally out of my price range. He does have nice things in the window...
