Speedy Fixit: NYC Repair Service

8-5-speedy.jpg

Pure gold. We recently learned about Saxon Palmer's Speedy Fixit from a client who had hired him to build shelves in her apartment. Apparently, Speedy Fixit is exactly what it says it is: a "prompt, reliable, and reasonably priced home repair service," that will help you get small jobs done! Imagine that!...

Speedy Fixit only operates in Manhattan (sorry) and covers all of the following:

". . a room painted, hardwood floors refinished, furniture assembled, a faux finish, and decorative plastering. Add a fresh finish and cosmetic details to your home or apartment such as custom shelving, reconfigured closets, moldings, and chair rails."

Pricing is right out front and straightforward for general work:

Painting & Repairs $75.00/hour
Daily Rate $550.00

This is the type of company that doesn't last forever, so repair your home right now. In fact, the previous owner recently sold Speedy Fixit to Saxon in order to go live on a boat in Europe for the next few years.

I'm a big fan of SpeedyFixIt - used him 3 times for basic home renovation: he build a wall of shelves, hung art, painted my living room, and installed window treatments on all of my windows. And, the best part about it - I can leave him alone to do the work - highly capable and highly trustable.

I live in nyc and pay much less for the same quality of service.

What I pay is between $8 to $15 an hour depending on the complexity of the work.
Yes the workers are legal and have valid social security numbers. They are reliable and honest as well.

Funny, I was wondering when you were going to write about Speedy Fix It, Max. A handyman for the ages. Installed a pot rack, retiled and grout to my shower, and helped babyproof for my new kid. Worth every penny.

Anyone have any suggestions for a similar person in Hoboken/Jersey City? (Now there's a "Good Question" that doesn't really need a photo.)
