The Wisconsin Student Union chairs are a Madison cultural icon. I used to live there and spent many a warm summer evening drinking too much beer and listening to good live music while sitting in those chairs. They are relatively comfortable and easy to move around.
They are definately not designed by FLW, I think they are a simplified version of a French Bistro chair.
If you are interested, the chair can be purchased from the University Bookstore (I don't know if they have an on-line presence or if they sell them on the web).
Interestingly, I have a connection to the second picture since my dining chairs are these very same Wegner chairs. They are a little spendy, but so absolutely sublime and comfortable. They make it long dinners with friends and even family easy and enjoyable.
I love Danish modern -- almost as much as mid-century (but then again, try to draw a line there!!!) Many criticize the DM look as cold or clinical, but I heartily disagree This photo and the one posted about a week or two ago -- showing a danish country kitchen -- both demonstrate how warm and cozy and 'lived in' a Danish modern interior can be. Thanks for sharing them!!!
I'm totally digging these chairs in Madison!
This am came across another chair photo that more suits the mood this overcast NYC post-holiday morning . . .

scroll over to the right - 2 chairs and a skyline . . .
Im pretty sure those chairs are Frank Lloyd Wright.

That Quarlo photo should totally be in the exhibit!
