Where do you go to buy art? "In our television and film ridden culture, us younger folk don't identify with buying a picture like our parents did long, long ago...." Believe whatever you want, but young, entrepenuerial artists, collectors and gallery owners are hard at work and their biggest advantage is the Web.
Mixed Greens is one of many galleries with website shops that are making this change happen. Already written up by Time Out:
Mixed Greens lists prices on its website—something that snootier galleries wouldn’t consider—and allows you to search by categories such as price and size.

"The Ikea of online art galleries" really sells these guys short, from a quality perspective.
But if more galleries had Mixed Greens' attitude not only about art but about art *buyers*, there'd be more art buyers...
I receive the Mixed Greens catalog at home. Good stuff! Though I wouldn't characterize their prices as low, I'd definitely place them in the more-affordable range. I also like the Eyestorm website for photography. But I've never purchased anything from either site; so my comments are really from the perspective of a "looky-loo" more than "satisfied customer."
I really kind of love Coke Wisdom O'Neal's medicine cabinet photos.
I went to the Mixed Greens opening last Thurday night to see Susan Graham's work--the lovely, lacey porcelain cars featured on the home page of their web site. If you happen to me in Chelsea, it's really worth checking out. The nice thing about Mixed Greens is that a number of the artists they represent are "emerging" so you can buy art you love and it might also be a good investment.
