Close Up!: Truck Steps Becoming Soap Dishes

3-8-bathstep.jpg

We'd never thought of this. Out in San Francisco, Todd and Nicole bypassed Dornbracht and Grohe, opting instead to integrate good old all-American truck parts into their bathroom (and their home). Here they've used an aluminum body step used on large trucks as a soap tray (it works perfectly). They found this part in a catalog called AW Direct.

Very cool. But could we use the step AS a step? For example - in our bathroom - we're constantlyy shlepping the stepladder in and out to get at towels and sheets (high shelves, small bathroom, relatively short people).

Could we insert steps into the wall? How we we get the weight borne by the studs?

Not to mention the soap.

And just think folks, if you need to clean the ceiling, you know you've got a solid foothold! :D
