micro logo.gifThey first caught our eye with a holiday arts fair of sorts and we've been interested in them ever since.

micro2.jpgEstablished in 1986,Micro Museum is an interdisciplinary art center servicing over six hundred working artists. Check out changing and permanent exhibits The VIP Room and the AC/DC Window, a solar-powered, seasonal installation.

This looks like a great place to visit during January's Art Month! While we're interested in what we've seen, our knowledge of Micro Museum is limited. Has anyone else been there? -regina

I lived in Cobble Hill for years and passed this place dozens of times and I still have no idea what they are about.

I must have read the title too fast. At first I though the article was about the micro car museum.

I was just about to post the same thing as brooklynRocks. It is around the corner from my apt. & I pass it at least twice a week, but have never been in. have never felt like anything compelling was going on there.

yeah, I walk by it almost everyday. They also let the space be used for a kids karate dojo. I'm assuming that's what's happening, and not some strange perforamce art....

(sadly) I can one-up everyone here. I live directly across the street(I'm looking at it now), and have no idea what it's about. Even worse, it's more likely that I'll find out about what goes on from a post on this board rather than walking in myself. Thank god for the internet. right.

Perhaps I can shed some light on the mystery. Depending on what time you walk by you might see toddlers singing or dancing, elementary school kids learning choreography, dojo practice, art openings, media presentations or other community events. There are music lessons being conducted on the 2nd floor by Musician's General Store. In fact Micro Museum is 21 years on the block and we have about 600 resident artists who use the spaces every year and 1,000s of visitors, sometimes by the bus load, coming to the area to see the collection of interactive installations by founding artists William and Kathleen Laziza or the curated visual art programming. Micro Museum is a cultural destination and is open to the walk in public on Saturdays from 12 - 7 PM only $2 per person or open for bookings: group tours, classes, meetings, or art related special events during the week.

If anyone has any questions --- we would love to answer them (718) 797-3116.
