Please visit our new link for Swallow Glass
See-more Glass. When in Brooklyn, do as the Brooklynites do...hang out and talk. One person recommended Swallow Glass, and we went looking for it all the way at the end of Smith Street. We are glad we did.
Run by Anne Prosser and Ria Charisse, it is one of the best home stores in Cobble Hill for the sheer depth and knowledge that they have brought to glass collectibles. The store is filled with light streaming glassware, jewelry and ceramics designed by over one hundred local, national and international artists. We bought two stunning small aluminum bowls, and wanted to buy these amazingly perfect spider webs trapped in glass, but stopped just short. If glass is your bag, this is your destination.

I used to live a few blocks away from this store years ago (I remember when it opened). It was always a treat to go look around at all the beautiful things. So nice to see it again - even online. This may prompt an overdue visit to Brooklyn!
I too covet the spiderweb under glass. The store has beautiful jewelry as well.
It's been a while since I've been to this store, but I *love* it. In addition to all the great glass items, the owners make some beautiful and unusual silver jewelry. They also have a great range of prices from small items less than $10 on up, so you can always walk out with a little something even if your budget is too tight for the pricier items.
I think this store is amazing! When I lived nearby, I would go in just to feel calm and be surrounded by beautiful objects. It is the only store my mother requests to go to EVERY time she visits NYC from Seattle!
I have purchased two Bill Burch vases from Swallow that I love. Annie is the best and always does a great job of wrapping and shipping them.
That reminds me -- it's time for another visit!
i am not a person who ever buys one for them and two for me, except when i go to swallow for a gift. then, it's one for them and four, or more, for me! it's that good.
swallow also serves as a mini gallery for some good artists.
but do check their hours before you go. i once spent quite some time loitering in the cold waiting for them to open at noon on a weekday.
I love Swallow! Their aesthetic is amazing and such a refreshing change from the abundance of cookie-cutter home stores that pepper Brooklyn.
And just for the record, Swallow is officially in Carroll Gardens, not Cobble Hill ; )
