ColorTherapy: Christmas Red #2

Name: H00820
Brand: Fine Paints of Europe

I have the perfect color for my second annual Christmas Red column (here's the first from last year): H00820 from Fine Paints of Europe.

My clients on this project had already passed on two other painters when they met me; painters who wanted to paint this room beige or buttercup. I suggested vermilion, and got the job...

I’ve seen more red rooms than you might imagine over the years, usually in kitchen and dining areas, but also dens, floors, doors and cabinets. There’s a color red for everybody, in a range of specific hues to suggest that red has limitless possibilities. The color here is pretty much a red right out of a primary color wheel, and draws all the different period pieces into one group.

So get in the Christmas spirit and give yourself the gift that keeps on giving. And thanks, G, it was nice to finally shoot with a real camera.

- Mark Chamberlain, interior and decorative painter

That color is seriously overpowering.

I agree with readingglasses. Way overpowering. Last year's red was a much better choice.

Oh, I love it. Cherries and corvettes and lipstick and bright plastic toys underneath the Christmas tree. It's a politically incorrect color to me, and it makes me feel racy, irresponsible and silly. I might not make good decision in a room painted that color, but I'd have a lot of fun.

I love a red room. It looks fun and fearless. Plus all you need to do to make it look festive is add, like, a twig of evergreen to the mantel, which appeals to my lazy side. ;)

I think that looks like the perfect room for that color. Good pick.

Can you tell me what kind of dr chairs those are? My new kitchen has one wall almost exactly that color (rest is white, with slate floor - not as overpowering) and I am searching for chairs.

I think it's awesome.

I also had a hairdresser once say a similar sentiment to the one above, "Not everyone can be blonde, not everyone can be brunette, but there is a shade of red for everyone."

Wait, why is someone choosing painters based on their design sensibilities? Or am I missing something? I thought painters, well, painted.
