apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

ColorTherapy: Clinton Brown

Double Header today! We weren't expecting Mark today, but he was desperate to get color on the political map.

Name: Clinton Brown HC 67
Brand: Benjamin Moore

How timely--I have so many different browns to write about for the New Year I’m going to have to dole them out at the rate of one per month. And since it’s Primary season, let’s start with this one and see if I can avoid making the obvious Hillary jokes.

Clinton Brown is softer than some of the dark browns I’ve mentioned in columns past, but it won my vote on this occasion because I like how it looks against the dark wood. It doesn’t look like we’re being to precious in matching it to the cabinets, and it’s not too cave-like either. I may be erring on the side of stylistically severe, but at the same time, this room has a coziness perfect for sleeping. Furthermore, Clinton Brown has just a drop of yellow, which I think in this instance lends an element of Zen.

Perhaps this environment is a bit too monochrome for some political leanings, so what about adding a touch of Obama Blue somewhere? We’ll know after Tuesday.

You're going to catch up at the rate of one per month? Everybody here loves color--and I, for one, relish your blogs about it. How about going for at least one per week?

I am really liking the cube storage unit - does anyone recognize it?

Is that storage unit made with Ikea cabinets? The components look a lot like a long white wall console that was posted a week or so ago - and those were Ikea.

I'm looking for a source on those cabinets, too. I don't think they're Ikea - I was there last week and didn't see these, at any rate - perhaps Mark added a veneer? Anyway, I'm looking for cabs like these for my living room, would love to know where they're from (and if they come in other finishes).

Nice rich shade of brown.
