apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

ColorTherapy: Pastel Green

Name: Pastel Green 548
Brand: Benjamin Moore

The client on this project was herself a decorator, and this photo is a bit more about decorating than it is about color. Im so not usually a fan of seafoam green or pale lime, but I believe in results: I think this room looks very lively in unexpected ways...

As far as decoration is concerned there is a blend here of contemporary things, modern classics, thrift-store finds and Spanish Mediterranean. The color is a bit festive, compared to the easy choice of painting everything white. As an aside, the office is painted in Ralph Lauren Claret, which Ive written about previously.

The color is lovely and the decor really compliments it ... except for that dark side chair.

I like how it works with the colour from the office and the red chairs. Very interesting. Who makes that table??

I love the green -- And by the way, thanks to all colortherapy posters (and to Mark) for all the cool posts and comments on this site. I just painted my new apartment in lots of great colors -- greens and blues for the bedrooms, a great dark orange for the kitchen, and a good fresh white for the living rooms and halls to balance out the brighter colors. I had cold feet for awhile, and had decided to wimp out and just paint the whole thing white, but discovered colortherapy and the AT color contest archive, and looking at all the colors reminded my how much I wanted color! And I'm thrilled with the results. So, if anyone else is nervous about going for lots of color, take the plunge! It's worth it!

Here here, sarahlily. After years of rentals with beige or stark white walls, I just moved into a new place and painted the living room green and the bedroom blue. It makes me so happy--I often find myself standing in the living room staring at the walls and I can feel my mood lift palpably. I attribute this all to the influence of AT. So, thanks!

While I'm generally not a fan of green for a decorator color but I do see some shades working better than others. Chartreuse is one, jade, another and even turquoise, even though it's more a blue, but with a definate green overtones to it can also work wonders but most grees just don't do me except as accents.

In this case, I think it works well here with what's going on in the room.

My home office is this color. I have a dark green chaise in there, along with a little West Elm desk and a narrow white Ikea table, and some blonde wood and stainless accessories. The whole thing feels fresh and comfortable.

I know this is off-topic, but anyone know more about that dining room table? It's lovely.

Yes, the table!! Where is it from! I have been craving a slab table with metal legs-chrome or steel. That one is near perfect!
