I want Bruno.
Nice impromptu storage system. Where's that from? It like looks like Hold Everything, re-configured. (BTW -- all lucky cats needs a bed spread that matches their fur!)
The stacked drawers and bins in very clever and provides a lot of storage. Brava!
LOL Bruno just blends so well, it makes you go "what cat?!". I like the color combo (wood color, black fur, white lights- - - and that's one lucky cat. My poor kitty just gets piles of clean laundry and a regular futon cover to sleep on (although he enjoys stacks of paper and downfeather winter coats just as well). I might have to upgrade. Anyway...I do like your room- hope to see the finished product soon!
I like it, especially the cat!
The bed would look even better with a arrangement of pillows. Maybe there are some there and I just can't see from the picture but another fur type for shams?
I always find it funny when pet owners use faux fur. Guilty, myself, but I laugh when I do it, too!
Your floor is gorgeous. And I love the contrast of the black fur spread against all that blonde wood. I believe you have found the perfect bedspread for black cat owners.
hmmm. i'm not sold on the faux fur -- feels a little sleazy to me (especially in black). maybe as an accent pillow, but covering the whole bed? no thanks.
This bedroom demonstrates the best principle for bedroom decorating. keep it simple. This room is a retreat for the owner
and a place to rest. Does Bruno hang out in those storage bins?
But how come "simple" "retreat" and "rest" all seem to preclude decoration and/or items of beauty? (not a criticism of NP, btw... I find your space to be inspiring to the minimalist wannabes among us, nicely organized, and highly personal, all in a good way!)
I'm especially grumpy today and taking it out on these submissions... mercilessly!
okay, okay... This is a turn in the cozy direction I suppose, but what's with the cat... that's the oldest gimmick in the book... add something cute and lovable to the picture and everyone will love it...
Not seeing enough in this room... looks like four white walls, a furry blanket, and some blond wood furnishings... Where's the color and life? Are there pictures or paintings on the on the walls? Any carpeting? A side table with a carafe of water or a vase of hyacinth?
But like I said... I'm grumpy today.
I dunno... I'm still not there.
The storage thing consists of "cubes" from Gothic Cabinet Craft, in oak finish. They're laid on plywood which I finished with polyurethane. The cavas bins are from the Container Store.
I used cubes throughout my apartment, including a pretty cool desk that has drawers and cabinets you can access on both sides. This is partly so I can reconfigure all my furniture if/when I have to move to a smaller space.
Was I supposed to include a bedroom tip? If so - good mattress. I love my mattress. Also, I went minimal because the room has a window with a view of the sky, and between the light and the view, it really doesn't need anything else. I have a bunch of framed pictures, but I left them off the walls because they compete with the light streaming in, changing patterns throughout the day. I positioned the bed to facilitate staring out the window - very meditative.
Thanks for saying nice things about Bruno!
Nina--
Above all, kudos to you (and all participants so far) for "putting it out there", especially since bedrooms are so emotionally charged and so highly personal...
A bedroom must do the job for it's owner. But this in no way is appealing to me. Nina sounds nice, clean and organized , but I don't like her room.
I don't like cats (even less black cats), I dislike faux fur (specially black faux fur). There is no art, no flowers, no personal touch...
Maybe I'm just in the same grumpy mood as Paul.
Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but the bins seem to encroach on the bed. I see wood floor, a bedspread, and a few bins. I think this place needs either more, or less. It just looks a little awkward to me.
Paul is right. I fell for the cat. Heh.
get a lighter colored bedspread---way to dark and harsh as it is.
I like the storage system but really dislike the bedspread. The cat's cute though!!
I fell for the cat and I'm a dog person. It's amazing how a pet can make clean, simple--almost bare--room feel cozy and safe. Great decorating tip!
I should really have voted higher just b/c pets are a source of balance and relaxation. Love that cat.
Well I must say first that I adore your cat. I have a black cat that takes refuge on my bed as well.
Faux fur? Not really a fan of it, but seems to me that Bruno likes it.
You should add some window treatments.
