This was really tough. Finding the top entries was easy for our panel of French Chefs, but the middle was crowded, and they hated cutting so many people who were really close.
All of the kitchens had character, good ideas and most of all LOVE put into them, but the finalists separated themselves by not only being inspiring to cook in, but by showing off some sharp design. Modern was the style of the day, despite some absolutely lovely traditional kitchens.
Voting begins now and ends at 1pm tomorrow - Lunchtime.
Vote for one (click through to see more of each), comment if you wish, and remember that everyone wins something (even the ones that didn't make the final cut), while the winner and runner-up get something more special... MGR

first vote!...angela's orange won me over =)
They are all nice kitchens but John's is the one that I would want to spend my time cooking in. Nice job.
Hard choice. My vote is for John and runner-up would be Anita. John's is an amazing design, especially because in seeing the before pictures, I would have thought, Great kitchen! The fact that he had the vision to improve it and do it so well, means a lot. On the other hand, I really love Anita's design, especially with a smaller space. It really seems to make the most of it, being nice looking and functional at the same time. Kudos to everyone who put their kitchens up for comments. Brave folks.
I don't know why but I like Aida's the best. Go go go!
All beautiful but aida's gotta be it, because of the clock moon in the blackboard sky. I also really liked some of the old-fashioned kitchens (how soon we forget everyone's names but particularly the one with the sink in the separate room--a beautiful kitchen).
For me it came down to a battle between Aida's and John's. Though love Angela's bright orange making for a cheery kitchen, but don't agree on best overall. Aida's got some clever storage design. Ultimately I voted for John's for it's beautiful, clean, open and cheery look and layout. And yeah I still envy JP's space. This was a tough competition.
Only one has apple tiles!
It's interesting to me that the kitchens overall are way better than the bedrooms. It'll be interesting to see the entries for the apartment competition.
Great functionality and spark in Anita's kitchen. Nice bright color accents, and lots of work space fro such a small kitchen. Pull-out shelves - brilliant!

Did we find out the name of the orange that Angela used?
nice work, anita
I love Angela's and Aida's and I think there are some other really, really nice ones, but I absolutely DESPISE one of the kitchens, so I can't name more favorites for fear of incriminating myself!
Aida's is a grat example of efficiently and attractively used space. i also love the clean and no frills look of it.
Interesting red apple tiles and stainless steel all around is the bomb!
You never forget your first love
*sigh*
It is apparent that all kitchens listed above are designed with passion. However, I feel that anitas kitchen outweighs others by bringing a sense of intimacy and playfulness into the kitchen through colors and tactility. By drawings a contrast between the smooth surface of the countertop and the rough texture of the tiles above, anitas kitchen sophistically integrates the industrial and the traditional aspects of modern kitchen
go nita
...then there's the emotional reaction to a space, which will vary from person to person. My absolute favorite kitchen did not make the final cut, but of the kitchens that did, I'd be happiest in Angela's. (Wanna have me over?) Though maybe I'd like to spin around a few times in JP's magnificent space.
one word "HOT"~!!
John's vision and hardwork paid off!
Beautiful Kitchen.
Hey! When I click to see more pics of each kitchen, I get "File not found"!
Is this just me?
Loved, loved, loved the playfulness of Anita's Group Effort.
Me too, aulaire. I've been getting File not found with almost all the older posts I was trying to view.
A really hard choice, because John's kitchen has many things in common with our own reno (i.e., the glass-in-aluminum framed upper cabinets, the wood cabinets, the island). However, I LUST after JP's marble and love his sensuous use of lighting -- the 4 skylights overhead, the lightwell washing light down the sink and counter area. I think I have just talked myself in JP's; now if I could only figure out how to vote...
