Pitch:
Small is definitely more (and functional too).
The original footprint of the kitchen was a modest 7x7 and I enlarged it to 7x8 by borrowing a foot from the dining area in order to fit the refrigerator. I love my kitchen because it does everything that a kitchen is supposed to do in its compactness while looking stylish. And more importantly, I love it because it has allowed me to do things such as hosting dinner parties, make Thanksgiving meals, and throwing kick-ass New Year’s Eve soirees for my friends and family.
In the end, isn’t that what we all want from a kitchen?
(more after the jump...)
3 Compelling kitchen cooking/design tips:
- Learn how to make risotto well and you’ll be the most popular and frequent houseguest
- Make sure there’s good lighting, both overall and task lighting. Do an electrical plan ahead so wirings can be hidden and outlets installed in the right places.
- There’s nothing like having a marble countertop. You have to baby it more, but if you love your kitchen, that shouldn’t be an issue.

The interiors of the cabinets/drawers are great. I'm just not such a fan of the cabinet exteriors or the marble, but that's just my taste. Good for you for adapting the kitchen display, though--inventive thinking.
This is the best I have seen so far. You must have spent a little fortune despite the floor sample.
I am myself partial to modern European design and love the combination of style, functionality and sophistication.
Kudos JMC
I'm not quite sure why this kitchen doesn't really seem appealing to me. Kudos for getting it on sale. It looks to be quite efficient with clever storage. I really like the task lights. I generally like the warm wood tones, but the counter tops don't do it for me. Something doesn't say warm home and hearth to me which I want in a kitchen regardless of modern or traditional design.
The marble is a no-go for me. Why would I want a white, fragile porous and very stainable stone for a work surface? The cabinets are quite nice, however.
I love the kitchen. Taking care of marble would drive me crazy, although I love the look.
I would love to have this kitchen. The cabinets are sleek but not cold, and the marble is so smooth and inviting. I also love the fact that it WORKS so well - that's what it's all about. Way to go!
just a quick comment re the marble ( that's always a hot button among us kitchen fiends) - this is the 1st kitchen I have that uses marble...it wasn't a deliberate decision as the countertop was part of the package. My last kitchen, which also was quite kick ass, had granite. So as someone who's had both, I don't think the marble is any more time consuming in terms of care and maintenance than the others. I always take care of my kitchens, that's just how I am. And that means I always use a cutting board, wipe after I cook or spill, and as you can tell, I haven't suffered any mishap or severe tell tale signs after 2 plus years. I've spilled wine and other liquids, but when the spills are wiped up quickly, no harm is done. It's as simple as that.
Yes, marble does show scratches and water marks, but you also have to look at a certain angle in order to catch all the flaws. This isn't something that I'd do on a daily basis, and I doubt neither would you guys. In the grand scheme of things, marble gets a bad rap but it's just one of the many materials in a kitchen that will go through the wear and tear cycle. People scratch, scrape, and stain cabinets just as often as they might damage the countertop.
I've come to love marble because it's such an elegant and beautiful sone. It's now become my preferred choice of material. No, marble isn't appropriate for a frat house or people who don't look after their things, but it's an enduring stone that works just as well as the next.
Wow, this is really nice! I love the large sink and the drawer and lower-cabinet storage. I'm just a little confused about the upper cabinets - from the photo it looks like there's a jumble of plastic containers - are those wire racks supposed to be for dishes? can you put anything flat on them?
Overall, very handsome. My one concern is the lighting -- looks like the task lights might be "in-you-face" -- please tell me they are on dimmers! Also, what's happening above the sink -- is it one of those cabinets you see in Europe that are open on the bottom for dish draining?
the answer is yes to both Bai and Frank's question That upper cabinet is meant to be used as a drying dish rack with a pull out drain. It is very cool, but I don't dry dishes as I put everything through the D/W, so that's why it ends up being used as another cabinet for storage. One can easily put more dishware in there, but I have enough storage as it is.
Yes, all my light switches are on dimmers, moreover, the task lights are angled in such a way that when you're standing, they hit the the surface of the countertop, not "in your face" as it may.

Its a wonderful crew, and they can do just about anything when it comes to interiors, kitchens, windows, doors, exteriors, bathrooms, extensions and brick work.
I have used kasi contracting many times and they are perfectionists with a creative eye and they are very well priced. And they give FREE ESTIMATES.
Is this the guy you used for this kitchen, or are you just posting a non-sequitir? And shouldn't estimates always be free?
It's a lovely kitchen with very well organized storage. And yes, I have so enjoyed your lovely lobster soiree sis!
This is the most beautifuland yet functional kitchen i have seen in a long long time.
Your kitchen seems visually dominated by the window, which clashes with everything, and the horrible radiator cover.
Perhaps you could get a custom radiator cover --or find a way to repaint the existing that improves things. In the alternative, ponder the niche that contains the radiator cover and window and think of a way to turn a defect into a focal point and feature that draws on the beauty of the wood and marble. Make it black perhaps, or some dark color. It has to seem as if it rises up from the floor and ties the space together.
