Messiest Closet? The Jenkins' Apartment

Finally! A bold and brave soul who isn't afraid of admitting the truth we all live with.

See them here, evaluate at bottom, and we elect winner to have their closet redone for free, nada, nuthin', no schwingo... (Thanks, Charles!) MGR

Name: Charles Jenkins
Hood: Upper West Side
Measurements: 21" deep, 57" wide, 85" tall

The Scoop:

A tiny closet is the only storage space in our small studio. The rod for hangers is too low to accommodate long coats and dresses and the high shelf is situated so that, though it could contain many items, it is impossible to actually fit most things through the small opening.

With no door or curtain, everything is exposed -- from a wedding gown to holiday ornaments, from a dusty set of wire-bound golf clubs to mangled DSL wires, and from suitcases for travel to extra blankets for visitors. It's beyond messy -- it's downright ugly. Help. Please.

I see space where more stuff can be crammed in. Amateur.

Pardon me, but I do believe I see like colors grouped together. This closet may be an anal retentive's nightmare, but it's my goal closet! Too bad I reside in Brooklyn. I could show you some scary closet.

You guys look fine -- you just need to get rid of a few things [like the dusty golf clubs and DSL wires, probably] and buy a curtain. You've already got everything that you need to organise the space, and it's not that hard to move the shelf and rod up... As for the awkward top shelf, I would either get rid of it or find something that will squeeze up there, like books or blankets and pillows.

OMG--I would KILL for that closet! Mine are makeshift broken down old Ikea nightmares that don't match. I have to push my laundry basket up against it so it will not fall down. So there always has to be a full basket of laundry to hold it.

It actually looks almost orderly to me! All those empty hangers and room to put more clothes! You wouldn't find much of that in my closet..

I voted shocking simply for the fact that there is no door or curtain. It looks like it's the rest of the room that is in a state of devolution. I live with children too and it looks like your closet is in pretty good shape. My advice is throw , throw , throw and cover that doorway.
Good Luck.
