My Favorite Flowerbox! Finals: Spotter Division

In the Spotter Division we have our original two entries going head to head. We are curious to see how MacPlanter does against this pure rival. FYI - MacPlanter had more gold medal votes than any other entry (97), but it also had more last place votes than any other too (30).

(NOTE: We just recieved word that Dave made that MacPlanter - which makes it technically a DIY. NOW we'll all have to think about what THAT means.)

I was a big defender of the Mac flower box, but it's no contest with the block brightener. I mean it's got Japanese maples for gawdsakes.

I'm wondering -- is she gonna let those neighbors know that she loved their little garden enough to enter it for them? And if they win, will they get to know? Will there be this mysterious victory that they know that they won? And that we're all part of this strange, wonderful glorification of random act of beauty that the creator of it remains forever completely unaware of, until they happen to google the idea of patio gardens and discover that they won way back in 2005? Hmmm...

Melanie's block brightener was my pick for overall winner. Such a shame that it didn't make it to the final three.

I like the mac. It's a great use of trash. Why clutter up a landfill when you can make your neighborhood a brighter place?

I'm sorry, that chair alone wins, in my opinion. It's just a much nicer vibe, imo.

A macintrash turned into a planter. What better way to comment on the obsurdity of the item! It was finally turned int something useful.

o there's a shakeup brewing . . . will the petunia'd trash move up to compete with the community garden, the earthy upscale terrace, or the flowing pink wrought iron window?

As much as I think this is a one trick pony, I think it deserves a shot. Which means ALL NEW VOTING.

Just to address Curtis's question: if the block brightner wins, I'll definitely tell the owners--after all it's their victory! I've actually been trying to run into them anyway (ie, slowing down as I near their house to see if anyone is out front) to let them know I had submitted their garden, but if they win I'll go the extra step and leave a note on their door.

I'm giving my vote to the Mac planter because they did it themselves instead of ripping off their neighbors.

it's a tough competition, when photos of the neighbors' potted maples compete with photos of the do-it-yourselfers coleus.

why not all new voting? (perhaps then I'd have a shot with my guerilla gowanus garden...) clearly, here, I'm biased.

Didn't everyone assume the Mac was a diy project? I know I did.
