2005_8_24_YURT.jpgTwirly & J-Lupa's Round Escape Pod

Location: The Hamptons, NY

Quote: Welcome to the cheapest house in the Hamptons! We put this up on a platform in the woods each summer next to a friend's house and have a cool, shady little getaway where sleeping in and reading during the day (when not at the beach) are no problem.

205_8_24_TONY.jpgTony's Remote Fish Camp

Location: Near Venice, Louisiana

Quote: As a child, my family would jump in the boat to "go across the pass" to visit my grand parents. This is where they lived. Kerosene lamps, propane stove, and a generator powered the camp which was there home. This is the real "simple life".

2005-8-JESS.jpgJess's Magic Cabin

Location: The Adirondacks, NY

Quote: The Cabin is a wonderful hideaway. It was built for me by a talented log contractor in early 2003, with the express purpose of not seeing anybody, hearing anybody, and being completely at ease.

I voted for the yurt because it is so simple and elegant and seems very doable.

Ah, but theyurt relies on a rare natural resource: A friend with property who will let you camp and use the indoor plumbing!
