The Messiest Closet? Noa, Melissa & Erica's Apartment

Noa, Melissa, Erica (3).jpg

The Messiest Closet Competition: closet #2

Name: Noa, Melissa & Erica
Hood: West Village
Measurements: 34 inches deep x 37 wide x 100 inches high

The Scoop:

Exclusive! A must see! Rodent-friendly fire hazard on west village block! Lots of old world charm in this special closet with tons of personality!

Our exterminator said we "really ought to do something about that closet; There's a big rat problem in the west village." We're not saying our closet is the source of that problem, but it's probably not helping matters.

The closet is made up of three walls - the fourth wall is actually the back of our refrigerator. There is a door on the closet, but only one hinge is attached to the wall. Among the items you will find (or search for in vain, for hour after fruitless hour) in this closet:

almost all kitchen items
ironing board and laundry supplies
snowboard
luggage
vacuum cleaners (3)
miscellaneous paint cans
tool kit
winter coats
fans (2)
cleaning supplies
picnic basket
pillows (2, one scorched from closet light)

please please please help us!

That's pretty bad. I vote "rats definitely." Martha would be very cross with you.

That is insane, absolutely. Kitchenware anywhere other than the kitchen just makes me cringe. We just moved into a loft and built a closet, since the place was an empty box, using Billy bookshelves from ikea facing elfa hanging rods on the wall for the hanging stuff. It's a hallway, walkthrough closet and I love it. I could have made it bigger it turns out, but now I don't want to bother moving it. Anyway, it turned out great, in case anyone is interested.

Noa- I thought my closet was a mess, but you've got me beat, hands down. Seeing these pictures has made me feel 10 times better about my organizational dysfunction, which is more than any therapist has ever done for me. Love ya'

I saw it with my own eyes....
This is definitely a disaster.

The giant Cockroach that flew on Steve probably has children hiding in there!

Someone help them for God's Sakes!

Living in the West Village as well, please help this rat breeding ground. At the same time, the rats are better in this closet than under my own bed........

Oh, no, no, no...

I can see--almost feel--the chi trapped and stagnating in this closet.

Now, it's not about judging, o.k.? But girl, if you don't win this contest, you get yourself to Ikea and get some nice big and small plastic containers. Something colorful, maybe.

I'm lighting a candle and praying for your trapped chi, pobrecita.

Any closet with a refrigerator serving as one of the walls deserves a makeover.

Please help them!!

Definitely a mess. We won't tell your school about the closet, Melissa, or they might not let you pass the semester.

You should also enter a contest for worst back staircase and cesspool swamp in back yard -- I sure hope you've gotten that taken care of by now!

Worst closet ever . . .

is this about closets that need help, or people who need help?

a tag sale and bins would go a long away to remedy, but something tells me these examples of disorder are more deeply rooted than fixes from ikea can reach.

Good Lord. How can you call this a closet? Someone needs some organizational lessons. You girls are a bunch of slobs and I would not be caught dead in your apartment with a closet like that. Who knows what the bedrooms and bathrooms look like? Absolutely disgusting. Not only are there rats and cockroaches, there are probably dust bunnies that will chew on your leg if you stood there long enough. Clean it up. I would think women living in New York would have a little sense of pride in their living arrangments. Unbeleivable, I really don't think Santa is going to come to a place like that. The pests will eat all the cookies and drink all the milk. Worse closet ever. Amazing
