The Ultimate Summer Hideaway Contest!

2005_8_9_running-away.jpgWe want you and we know you all will be running away at least once this month....

We want to see design ideas, interiors and exteriors from summer hideaways, so we're having a contest to get you snapping pics of your favorite room, porch, house, or reading chair.

We're looking for the Ultimate Summer Hideaway that will make us all wish we were there right now when we see it.

What we want is inspiration and ideas that typify design in these warm summer months, and we're not looking for it to be super fancy or super big, just ultimately comforable and beautiful in that lazy, summery way. MGR

Who is eligible:

  • Anyone who has a summer retreat that they love
  • They could either own it, rent it or be a guest

2005_8_1_summer.jpgWhat we want from you:

  • 3 pics of one summer hideaway interior (you may include others)
  • Your name (as you'd like to be known online)
  • The location
  • Who designed it (if you know)
  • Any good resources (important!)
  • A pitch, telling us what is special about it and any tips you have.

When they are due:

  • Because this is weekend oriented, we'll hold out until Monday, August 22nd

2005_8_2_summer-porch.jpgWhat we'll give everyone:

  • Goodwill
  • Thanks
  • Probably some barbed comments
  • And to the winners: A T-Shirt, hat and a Summer Squiggle for the overall winner

Sorry--I don't own, nor do I know a soul who owns anything like a summer home (who can afford real estate in this bubble we're in?), nor do I have $750-2000 to drop on a two-day rental. My only hideaway is my bed, watching PBS.

My family owns a vacation rental in Mexico and I'm just about to launch the website tonight or tomorrow. Perfect timing, I'll definately be submitting in the next few days.

The interior? Lame! The whole point of my Catskils summer hideaway from the one-bedroom apartment is that I have outdoor space. No waiting for a cafe table, no shirt no shoes required. Interiors are for city folk.
Silly competition : P
