Am throwing on my straw hat and suspenders (or at least jeans and casual shoes)and heading to Connecticut for a good old-fashioned barn raising. And hoping a beam doesn't bonk me on the head.

I can never get used to the US meaning of suspenders. In England the term refers to a garter belt so you can imagine my immediate reaction to Doug's post.
BTW, braces are used to hold up your trousers and pants is used as a short form for underpants in England but I have gotten used to using the term pants instead of trousers now.

Lucky, lucky me. I get to stick around and watch plasterers fill the holes in my walls, while I try to rid my bathroom tiles of all the nasty grout the previous owners globbed on.
Well, I'm back from a week of helping my folks prepare their blond brick 1970's ranch style house for the appraisal for their refinancing. Outdoors in August in the Deep Mid South -- jealous?
Meanwhile, one FUN little thing DID happen that I must share, so picture it:
Many bathroom sink faucet handles are coordinated to match the shower faucet handles, right? Well, some of them are slight variations of the same style.
Well, the sink faucet handles were kind of the worse for 15 years of wear, but since the shower ones were still pristine, but too old to match, I looked closely and realized they weren't even variations! They were identical! So, I just switched them out! Now, when you walk into their bathroom and go to wash your hands, the faucet handles look fantastic, and the way I installed the old handles onto the shower ones, I positioned them so that the ONLY flawless "plane" of them are now showing. So, now you have to be IN the shower to see the imperfections of those.
Now, I didn't take pictures. Sorry.
