I remember one year I made Christmas pudding with a friend of mine. It took various types of dried fruit and was made similar to these recepees with a certain exception. We had to 'feed' the pudding a table spoon of brandy every other day from thanksgiving to Christmas. Then served steamed with brandy butter. It was quite heavenly though I'm sure that excessive quanities of brandy was 'cooked' out when steamed.
