Boa Clam Knife Block

2005_3_4_boa.jpg
Just one more. If you love knife blocks but get scuzzed out by how dirty they become and just what exactly is growing down inside there, here's the answer. The Boa Clam Knife Block was probably designed by a high maintenance person, but it has a certain brilliance: it is two halves of wood that stick together with a strong magnet. They can then easily be pulled apart for cleaning.

Made in England of sustainable wood and using "rare earth" magnets, the Boa is designed by Boa Housewares and won the RedDot Design Award in 2004. We found it for $90 here.MGR

no, I've never thought about it. Shouldn't a knife be cleaned, dried, and sharpened before returning to the block?

In theory, but if you've ever lived with someone sloppier than you, just getting them to put away the knife may be the best you get.
