This Norwegian cabin in the woods was designed by Jarmund/Vigsnæs AS Architects MNAL and is primarily used in the winter as a base for cross-country skiing. Beatiful and bright — as long as the knotty pine panels don't bother you!

Because of its seasonal use, the house was designed to accommodate large groups of people — a central open space with double-height ceilings is surrounded by several secondary-purpose rooms (small bedrooms and a bathroom).

I guess it is the knots in the wood that make it seem so 'spotty'. It's just too much in one eye shot.

I'm surprised that anyone can afford a place just to be used for the winter months. Ironically, I could understand how one might desire a summer house however.

I really like this Scandinavian all-wood look, but I think North Americans tend to associate knotty pine with basement rec rooms, not with 19th century Swedish villas.

I can't believe so many would have such a problem with the wood in this beautiful room. And would want to cover this exceptional natural beauty with cheap paint. Clearly, too much Eddie Ross. If it doesn't move, paint it...

This is an amazing space. I too wish it had been a hot or not poll.

I really love the floor plan, but all that wood looks oppressively homogeneous. Floors and ceilings in addition to walls and beams! It actually undermines the beauty of the wood by making it seem common.

I like the unusual layout, but the overuse of knotty pine makes the overall effect too spastic for me. There's no where your your eyes to rest comfortably.

It would be like living inside an enormous, 3 dimensional connect-the-dots.
