I would love to have a home like this.

I live in one of the most beautiful cities area in the US but I do like to look at houses for sale on the East Coast like Maine and this is exactly what I look for.

Intentional neglect? I don't dig it.

Wow, I love seeing such a range in the designer. This is a far cry from the uber stylish Chloe's pad. Love this one too, just different.

anyone else notice the 5 columned porch? don't see that very often.....

Looks like he has a serious mold problem in the bedroom, and did he forget to pay the electric bill?

The photos don't really give a great representation of these interiors - the other photos could just as easily be a catalog vignette selling Pottery Barn pillows - Kinda bizarre way to represent someone's style.

Allowing a patina of time and use to settle on an older home is one thing, leaving great sheets of peeling paint and splitting window casements untended are not quite that thing. This place simply looks as if it hasn't been properly looked after and is falling to bits. It's a good thing the designer lives here himself, he'd have to spruce up a bit to sell this look to any reasonable client. It's a beautiful house though; perhaps the phase after 'dilapidated chic' will show its lovely bones to better advantage.

I'm not a professional....but I could decorate a house that great looking a whole lot better than these pics show.

The house is beautiful, has good bones... but is bordering a little on 'Grey Gardens'. I think it's cool, though. Some general repairs and paint is all it needs. I like the simplicity of the decor. It looks like a great place to escape to....brings you back to another era. I like the lack of electricity and the use of lanterns. It adds to the coziness...although, in the winter, I bet the drafts and disrepair makes the house incredibly cold. It looked like a pretty grand place at one time.
