Swiss Box: Modern Home in the Mountains
ArchDaily

I love how this boxy home looks like it was tossed to the ground in the middle of the Swiss Alps! Designed by Nunatak Sàrl Architectes, the home is covered in a slate exterior — a beautiful use of stone in this rocky part of the world!

The subtle use of yellow in both the exterior and interior is genius — surrounded by mountains and vineyards, this house qualifies as a great escape!

I tend to like old and quaint but I think this is beautiful... perhaps it's the green of the vineyard and the awesome mountains..... but it does seem to meld rather well for me...

Love the inside, but the outside...I wonder if they ever feel seasick.

It's funny, emaozora; I'm the exact opposite. The outside is cool but the inside is rather bland. The spaces are interesting but the colours, the furniture and the accessories are uninspired.

I'm with Blandwagon. I really like the exterior, but the interior... meh. Just okay.

Just another great example to show the absent talent of most modernist architects.

Alaricus - um, that's kind of a broad generalization. Don't forget that aesthetics are only a part of an architects design!

I like new architectural concepts if there's a point, but this strikes me as "originality" for originality's sake. You could never sit on those red couches and look out the slanted windows without being distracted by the [pointless] fact that they're slanted.

The word "modern" can refer to things such as the H-bomb, the concentration camp, various types of pollution, and so forth.

Here (to describe the house) the term is used in a complimentary sense, I suppose. But the negative aspects of the term stick to it.
