The Cutting Garden

9-25-cutting.jpg I found The Cutting Garden by chance, advertising their cut and dried lavender on Craigslist. Since then, I have had an extreme desire to visit.

9-26-lavender3.jpgThe Cutting Garden is owned by Tom and Catherine Mix. It is a 20-acre flower farm sited in the rich soil of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. An old farm house headquarters on-site weddings and parties and a cutting garden is open to guests who wish to choose and cut their own flowers from the fields.

In lieu of a visit, a small bit of the farm's charm is available through the online gift store where you can purchase organic dried lavender in bundles or in loose buds by the pound. Prices are extremely reasonable, making this a terrific resource for lovely lavendar for your home. I just wish I was close enough to cut my own! -Regina

Thank you Regina for your lovely post on ApartmentTherapy.com and for your praise of our lavender products. We grow more than an acre of Grosso lavender here in the sunniest, driest place in Western Washington - Sequim. This year our 3,000 plants produced about 6,000 bundles and 1,200 pounds of loose lavender buds.
Hi to Shari, we got to name the gravel lane that connects the main road to our farm and since we raise more than 300 varieties of dahlias (for u-cut flowers) and we have a couple of pet Llamas (Highbrow and Bogey) we just couldn't resist the play on words...Dahlia Llama Lane.
I hope you all come out for a visit next summer! We will probably begin lavender harvest around the 9th of July. Fresh lavender will be available for 2 weeks during harvest time.
Say Hi to my son Graham who is an American sign language interpreter and Hip Hop artist in New York City. Check out his original music at ProGrammar.net

Hi Regina WOW! What beauty. Just wish I was close enough to visit the garden! I live on a farm and really enjoy all the beauty of the out doors.
