apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Table Accessories by nettydesigns
Design Showcase 2009

Materials: White twill fabric, silk screened ink, embroidery thread
Price Point: Napkin $7.95, Placemat $10.95

"Dressing a table for dinner parties or daily use quickly becomes a part of the daily home aesthetic in small apartment living. Dressing a table can be as effective as painting a wall a new color. The handmade table accessories from netty designs feature two-dimensional patterns with deliberate colorful embroidered accents...."

"A cotton blend fabric is silk screened and embroidered to create both a visual and tactile two dimensional patterns.

Currently offered in the collection are complimentary sets of placemats and napkins. The napkins purposefully do not match the placemat and each napkin or placemat may be embroidered on a different location within each set. Each of the sets is named after a female in the family or close girl friend and the design reflects something of each person’s character.

Many of my inspirations developed from my love of nature and fascination with history. Nature is an amazing example of organized rhythmic chaos. The best part of a pattern is breaking it with a new color or a new shape thus redirecting the eye to see the unexpected. All of my patterns could be applied on just about every home accessory imaginable."

I think this is the most real submission yet. I love the bold graphics and I totally agree that a house feels more like home when the table is set for a party. Fabulous!

I'm surprised at all those ecstatic comments, while they look well made, these placemats look nothing but ordinary to me, something i could buy at my local target-like store (I'm in Europe, so maybe these type of things are scarce in the US?).
So hum, not really excited about those.

I'm a huge fan of simple clean decor, so these are right up my alley! They manage to be simple and bold which is a tricky combination. It reminds me of something I'd see at the MOCA giftshop.

thehuubshow, eight of the ecstatic comments were made by users who have only commented once on AT, so most likely friends of the designer. I think these are really nice pieces, although they don't strike me as incredibly innovative, which is one aspect I've been looking for in the submissions.

netty styles: simple elegance, the way life should be. these light gestures are subtle and effective. they don't need to innovate to be aesthetically pleasing, sharp and fresh. i think many people will appreciate netty's work.
