It reminds me of a couple things:
1) the privacy screen in a doctor's office.
2) an office cubicle.

Good idea.....but that pic looks like a nurses office at a fancy private school.

It seems pretty pricey to me, but it looks gorgeous, and it seems like a great solution for dorm rooms or other shred bedrooms.

Looks fantastic! I would definitely buy one (or three).

Like the clean lines which will work in some design schemes plus in small spaces you don't want to add much that will compete with pieces you already have. The stability achieved by the footers and headers is an added bonus in that you don't require the angled panels and/or third panel that many room dividers need.

That is one of the smartest room divider solutions I have seen! I have a studio apartment and divided my bed area with a 3 panel folding screen but it has fallen over a lot, once on my foot and once on top of my friend's daughter. Where can I get this product? I am throwing out my folding screen.

It's a great idea but I think the aesthetics need a little work. Personally, the components look just a bit too industrial/office for my taste but I think you have landed at a great price and this idea is LONG overdue in the market.
I am looking forward to seeing how this idea progresses.

Just an observation -- if you sign up today to post your one and only (positive, of course) comment, it's pretty obvious that you're a friend of the designer, rendering your compliments moot.

This is a terrific solution for providing just enough architectural definition of separation and it won't be mistaken for furniture, a dressing screen or a makeshift room divider. And polycarbonate is can make light magical. If demand could arise to match this thoughtful solution, prices would drop I'd think.

I think it looks nice, but would look a lot better if it didn't have the horizontal lines between panels. I think that's a main part of why it look kind of officey/cubically (at least to me).

In theory I like the idea, but it practice it looks like a couple of shower doors to me.

UM - It's a few standards from a pole shelving system and a couple acrylic panels.
Great DIY - But not so much for a product.

I agree with everythingistaken that removing the horizontal lines would make the divider look more homey. I also think adding some wood to the design would warm it up.

This has reminded me of another divider, not really the same but its a glass product that can either be clear/cloudy depending on if you flick a switch. Has there been a post on AT about it?

Yes clinical and commercial.

Love this. But I almost want to take away a star because there is no link. This is the kind of solution I was looking for last year when I moved into my loft. It's a little more expensive than I wanted to spend (and twice as much as what I ended up spending), but it's 1/3 of what I *really* wanted, so I don't think the price is bad at all.

I quite like these, they're practical and remind me of Shoji screens. But I think they need more work to look more elegant and less "officey"

I thought this was a good idea until I saw the price - zero stars!

This a VERY cool product! I love the way the light still flows through but the view is obscured. And the fact that it is landlord friendly is sweet!!

co-sign with idontdobeige. I gave it a star because of the price and it looks Ikea-ish to me.

Hah that website crashed my browser. oops!

Beautiful! Add just enough privacy without restricting the flow of light or making the room feel small or unstructured.

I like that you can move it easily and also place them in various angles or lines but I agree that it looks too clinical.

Reminds me of a hospital. No thanks!

beautiful and better than those ubiquitous black chintzy 'asian' folding screens. Pair one of those wretched things with a futon and a torchiere lamp and you've got 90% of all dorm rooms.
This is an elegant, grown-up solution!

cool, but why only on the end side of the bed?
would be great if it is on the sides too

Yikes. No.

You could probably make this on your own way cheaper using corrugated plastic and some sort of contraption found at the hardware store.

shameless promotion in this thread, i love it!

Hey all- if you like the concept but want a much warmer look, along with the functionality of being able to move the walls, (no bolting to ceilings/ floors, better for renting or just a more flexible solution) check out LOFTwall:
www.loftwall.com
They have an array of infills (screens) with warmer textures and colors. I work with them a lot!
view jamama's profile
The problem with the Loftwall product is that it can fall over, since it is freestanding and not attached to anything. It flops over if you knock into it.
The iDivideWalls product is pressure fit between the floor and ceiling and won't flop over. Find it at:

I like the way this divider looks. There are many types of dividers available, so you can choose the look you want and find a safer one if children use the room or your floor isn't level. You can find another interesting room divider option (wood frames with changeable panels) at www.design-divide.com. Choice and creativity are good things, and this is a site about design.... so.... is this comment shameless self promotion or helpful information? (yeah, it's both).
