The Thin Chair and Table by Junio Design

thin02.jpg

This is the sort of thing that so lovely to look at and so impractical to think about that it qualifies as design porn more than anything else. Designed by Jun Hashimoto and awarded the Design Report Award 2008, the highest award at the Milano Salone Satellite, the Thin Chair and Table represents the most minimal use of materials. Only one sheet is used to create each form..

The picture just below of the raw metal is our favorite. Impractical or not, we'd really like to try these in our home.

Why is it so impractical? Because your butt would be cold?

Yes, I wondered why these would be impractical, too. If they're made of sturdy materials I think these would be great, especially the set up at the top.

I think the implication here is that cost makes these impractical for most, perhaps?

The porn comment applies -- I definitely feel lust!

If the price is what makes it impractical, why not list the price?

These would not fit with anything I own, anything I do, anywhere I live and I want them. I would give up the rest of my "life" for this furniture, including my car and children. Beautiful, how much ?

i dont find them attractive but a larger concern would be, will they hold someone weighing over 110#s? like Aunt Bertha and Uncle Joe when they come for Thanksgiving dinner?

Ptoo, yes...*sigh*. That's probably it. I've been looking at craigslist for so long I forget that many things are out of my reach.
