Marrakesh express... Aware of the growing hipness and attractiveness of the Chelsea Market, we were recently tipped off to yet another resident: Imports of Marrakesh, a wholesale and retail operation that specializes in Moroccan textiles, tile, lighting and wrought iron as well as custom projects overseen with artisans in Morroco, such as arabesque plaster carving and moushawabi screens.
We spoke with Stephanie, the creative director, who runs the company with Mohammed Elmarrouf, the founder. She emphasized that their company is very small but does a lot of business with architects and designer, because their stuff is "the real deal." While the website is beautiful, their entire collection can be seen better at their store, along with many more lanterns which are not currently online.
Big sellers? The Moroccan tile garden tables ($250-$2,000) and the wrought iron chairs ($165-$250) go quickly, while fez hats, berber carpets and palace pillows are favorites for photoshoots and parties (but also for sale). (Thanks, Shawlon!)

Great Store! Very beutiful selection of Moroccan goods and accommodating owner and staff.
