Our goal at Apartment Therapy is to raise $10K by October 31. You can give any amount that you would like, and fund exactly what you like. Simply go to the Apartment Therapy Challenge Page and check out the items that need funding. A description of each project can be found along with how much is requested. If you would like to know more about DonorsChoose.org go here. If you would like to see the Social Media Challenge Page, go here. If you would like to ask us a question, email us at new york @ apartmenttherapy.com and put 'Social Media Challenge' in the subject.

Guys, I can't tell you how much Donors Choose has helped my classroom. I've received bookshelves, hundreds of books, learning centers, pocket charts, whiteboards, art supplies, bean bag chairs, a huge rug, activities to improve fluency and comprehension, and tons of other materials to help me organize my class. I could NEVER have bought these on my own, nor would my school be able to buy them for me. Please help my fellow teachers. This organization makes such a difference for my kids.

Seriously?!? An interactive white board is *needed* to make lessons engaging? How about a chalk board, good lesson plan and a good teacher? It worked for millions of kids in the 70's and overall we're a pretty sharp and successful bunch. This request is doing a great disservice to teachers and students that really do *need* things like books and desks. Get real.

Unfortunately, I'm a teacher myself. I spend money weekly on books and materials. Frankly, I'm trying to raise some $ for a pair of classroom laptops. My fifth graders have access to ZERO classroom technology. However, I'll send my thanks to all those who seek to help other classroom teachers =D

Lindygrey,
I see your point and agree to an extent, but kids today learn and communicate differently then kids in the 70's. Having the technology sure helps capture and hold their attention and infuses a "cool" factor into the classroom. A chalkboard and a good lesson plan just isn’t enough.

My classroom is the opposite situation. I have a technologically rocking classroom, but the current economic conditions are making it difficult for parents to purchase supplies……
