While the intent of William-Wayne & Company (namely to offer a potpourri of accessories for the home that mirror a tasteful friend's pleasantly cluttered home — filled to the rafters) may serve as a deterrent to dyed-in-the-wool modernists, there are a few surprises to be had among the traditional wares...

Recommended by a number of Maxwell's past clients, William-Wayne has a cult following. As one client said, William-Wayne is where I go to buy home gifts for friends. They are the best place to go when you want to find bamboo tea trays, tortoise shell ice buckets and those hard to find dressed monkey accessories.

They clearly cater to Anglophiles looking to deck out a country cottage, but certain pieces (like the Blue and White Bowls, Coral Napkins, and Red Gold Tray) might find themselves not entirely out of place in a contemporary space. And we kind of really dig the monkey pillow.

*William-Wayne also has a downtown location at 40 University Place between 9th &10th Streets.

Why do you have to apologize for those who do not think MCM is the be-all and end-all?

You can find those exact same blue bowls for half the price at Pearl River in SoHo...or on their website www.pearlriver.com. They're $5.95 each.
